The Truth Behind Heath Insurance In The US

United States health insurance has been a constant struggle for a while now, and here’s why.

Health insurance has been a substantial issue is the United States for a long time. The US uses a private health care system. This nation also relies on a direct fee system. This means everyone under the age of 65 has to pay for medical costs themselves, aided by their private health insurance usually threw ones employer. People 65 years or older are covered by medicare.

Only 54 percent of Americans have private health insurance. 29 percent of people fall at public health insurance which means they're covered by medicare or medicaid. Sadly that leaves a whole 16 percent of Americans uninsured. That sadly converts to about 50 million Americans including 8 millions children who lack health insurance.

This many people without health insurance can be extremely dangerous for various reasons. If 8 million children lack health insurance in the United States 8 million children wont be vaccinated for common and deadly illnesses like the flu. In many cases adults and children who don’t have health insurance wont get the help they need to treat deadly diseases including cancer, diabetes, multi organ failure, and so many others. Sadly, 45 thousand people die a year because of the health insurance policies in the US.

The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was a program that started in 1997 to help children in need of health care. Unfortunately, that failed to help most low income families as they were not poor enough to qualify but were not fortunate enough to afford health insurance.

The United States has to think of ways to create a fair system for everyone. One that all Americans will benefit from. The US needs to think less about money and more about patient care. That starts with us.
