How a Netflix Series Encapsulates Visibility and Representation

**SPOILERS**

The series is enriched by themes of hard-work, dreams, love, and especially what unique experiences that LGBTQ+ and people of color might have encountered on their journeys to success in old Hollywood. While these themes made the story extremely invigorating and resonant, a specific scene struck a chord in my heart and mind–something that I felt really embodied what representation should mean for all of us as we continue to make progress toward diversity in Hollywood and mainstream media.

Toward the end of the series, we are treated with a trip to the Academy Awards–where a majority of the cast is awarded for their revolutionary film and what they contributed to it. The sequence that held my heart, though, was that of the families and friends of each cast member that was awarded an Oscar.
